Former deputy prime minister Nick Clegg is joining forces with Tory ex-minister Anna Soubry and Labour MP Chuka Umunna to present to Parliament a damning report from the Centre for Economic and Business Research (CEBR).

The research, which was commissioned by the Open Britain campaign, states negotiating post-Brexit trade deals following Brexit could take up to a quarter of a century as each sector would require its own agreement.

The former Liberal Democrat leader will say "It is the height of irony that free-market Brexiteers often claim European regulations are the product of an overbearing European super-state, when in fact EU regulations are designed to liberalise markets."

The EU has always been the enemy of democracy. Run by unelected oligarchs, it despises the very concept of the popular will.

Major wanted to slur Brexit supporters as the nasty agents of totalitarianism but his charge was absurd. If any organisation is dictatorial and divisive it is the EU which was created in 1992 by the Maastricht Treaty that he pushed through Parliament without any public vote.

In the elitists' guerrilla war against Brexit, Major was joined by Tony Blair, the man who gave Britain rampant immigration and the Iraq invasion. In an interview last week, Blair described EU withdrawal as "a serious mistake" which "can be stopped" if the people are given a full "cost benefit analysis".

So desperate is Blair to halt Brexit that he plans to set up a new organisation to promote continued EU membership. Already he has been talking about his scheme to figures like the former Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg and the rock celebrity Bob Geldof, who has described Brexit voters as "an army of stupidity".

Reportedly Blair has secured funding from pro-Remain businessman Richard Branson, while his key henchman Alastair Campbell was heard at a private dinner last week urging his guests Peter Mandelson and ex-MI6 Chief John Sawers to "fight back against Brexit".

If the Remain lobby cannot thwart Brexit, they are determined to keep Britain in the EU's single market as a fallback position. Yesterday it was revealed that the Bank of England Governor Mark Carney, an assiduous promoter of anti-Brexit scare stories, has held meetings with business leaders to put the case for Britain's continued membership of the single market for at least two years after our formal EU withdrawal in 2019.

But that would mean open borders, free movement, the acceptance of Brussels jurisdiction and further contributions to EU coffers, exactly what the British people voted against in June. This drive to block the Referendum result shows a profound disdain for the electorate.

But just as offensive is the flight from economic reality. A central theme of the Remoaners' campaign is that the Brexit vote is "a catastrophe", to quote Blair again, which will inflict untold damage on our economy. But this bleak prediction keeps being confounded by events.

On Friday figures showed that business investment rose by 0.9 per cent in the three months to September, when economists had predicted a drop of 1 per cent. In recent days IBM, Amazon, Google and Facebook have all announced massive increases in their British operations.

"The UK has been a tremendous market for us. We see big opportunities here," declared Google announcing a £1billion investment in London. Then Jaguar Land Rover unveiled plans to expand its workforce by 10,000 and make one million vehicles-a-year in post-Brexit Britain.

The state of the economy is the direct opposite of the gloomy picture painted by the Remoaners. High-street sales are growing at their fastest rate for more than a year while exports are up 0.7 per cent.

Unemployment fell again this month, down to just 4.8 per cent, a far lower rate than most of Europe. Overall the economy grew by 0.5 per cent in the latest quarter, making a mockery of the grim predictions that by now the Brexit vote would have pushed Britain into recession.

Moreover, as the Autumn Statement highlighted, our public finances will soon receive a huge boost, worth around £10billion-a-year, from the end to the vast subsidies we now have to fork out for Brussels. Major said last week that the EU trading bloc is “the richest market mankind has ever seen”.

The mirkiest of all goings-on regarding the establishment hitting back against Brexiteers have been in the corridors of Whitehall.

It is fair to say that the vote in favour of Leave did not go down well among civil servants with reports of members of the "blob" in floods of tears in the days after.

The civil servant was, according to his court documents, targeted among other reasons because he had been falsely accused of being "pro-Brexit".

He was dragged from his bed by 14 counter-terrorism police officers where he was recovering from cancer surgery after being allegedly framed for leaking embarrassing details about how former UK ambassador to the US Lord Darroch allegedly gave away top secrets for sex with a CNN journalist. Because of these false accusations, and the ensuing months of investigations he was made homeless and attempted suicide.

The government is doing its best to use counter-terror legislation to keep the proceedings behind closed doors but evidence seen by Express.co.uk from a supporting witness (who was a pro-Brexit civil servant) has alleged that pro-Brexit civil servants or ones considered to be pro-Brexit such as the claimant were targeted by senior people in Whitehall and barred from promotion.

More than 20 senior figures in Whitehall are named in the case including Darren Tierney, the current Director-General heading the Cabinet Office's propriety and ethics team, who was alleged to be anti-Brexit and was later partly responsible for the Partygate investigations.

Peter Bone appeared on TalkRADIO where he was asked for his opinions following Labour MP Chris Bryant retweeting a photoshopped image which suggested the empty shop shelves were because of Brexiteers which also called them "Thick Twats". Bryant was widely condemned online for "insulting" his voters and constituents who may have voted for Brexit considering his seat voted to leave. Mr Bone took up arms against the story and said Bryant and people on the other side of the political argument had to resort to insults as they could not argue against their opponents.

Bryant is the MP for Rhondda Cynon Taf which voted 53.7 percent in favour of Brexit.

The MP retweeted an image from columnist Tim Walker which showed mocked-up signs in a supermarket blaming Brexit for the empty shelves.

Mr Bone appeared on TalkRADIO and fought back against the Brexit attack.

He told the programme "If you can't win the argument you attack the person, instead of playing the ball - you play that player."

"And I think Chris Bryant, who was a huge fan of remaining in the EU, loves the EU."

"He's lost the argument, Brexit has proved to be a success."

"The fact that we had the vaccination programme is because we weren't in the European Medical Agency."

"So he can't win the argument so he attacks the players and I think on reflection Chris Bryant will probably think that was a bit of a silly remark and he should really apologise for it."

After the outcry of sharing the image, Bryant removed the retweet and apologised.

He said "My profound apologies, I hadn't spotted the appalling language and removed by RT, again I apologise."

But radio host Patrick Christys pointed out the MP did not apologise for offending or attacking people who voted for Brexit.

Mr Bone continued "I don't agree with Chris Bryant on his policies and I just think when you do that you show that you've lost the argument.

"Chris should be fair-minded and say he shouldn't have said that, he's insulting more than half the country.

"It's just not what you should do as a politician, you should argue about the policy, you shouldn't argue about the people, it's just a silly thing to say."
