"For legal reasons the GLA cannot discuss the identity of the individual in any further detail."
Early 2003 it emerged that another GLA official, Yusef Azad, who helped scrutinise the mayor's work at City Hall, had been arrested as part of the Operation Ore child pornography inquiry. He was bailed to return a month later.
More than 1,600 men were arrested during the inquiry, including two officers involved with the Soham murder inquiry and rock star Pete Townshend, who insisted he was just researching the subject. Operation Ore was set up after the FBI sent British police details of 2,000 credit cards and emails traced back to the UK as part of its own Candyman inquiry.
Campbell was later sentenced to three years imprisonment.
