Deacon, then living on Par Lane, Par, Subjected two young girls to a series of "utterly revolting" sexual assaults admitting the offences when he appeared before Truro Crown Court in February of 2014.
Asked by his barrister, Bob Linford, about sexually assaulting the two girls, He said he was sorry and ashamed, but admitted he was sexually attracted to young girls. "He had a degree of insight into the harm that he had caused these two little girls and for that he is very sorry." said Mr Linford, who added that as a result of his "disgusting behaviour", Deacon’s wife wanted nothing to do with him.
The six offences relate to the sexual assault of girls aged eight and ten years at Helston between 2011 and 2013. During his trial he also made a plea to a further charge, involving an allegation of rape on a child, for which the jury failed to reach a verdict.
Deacon was a former chairman of Sithney Cornish Wrestling Club, and also sat as a Sithney parish councillor, for which he was previously representative for Police and Victim Support, together with the Cornwall Association of Local Councils (CALC).
Sentencing Deacon to five years in prison, Judge Christopher Harvey Clark, QC, said "It hardly needs me to say that your behaviour in sexually molesting [the girls] is utterly revolting to people with normal standards of behaviour." he added "To be blunt, you are a paedophile."
Deacon will have to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.
