Disgraced former Isle of Wight and Newport Parish Councillor, David Whittaker, was jailed for six years after being found guilty of two charges of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, sexual activity with a child, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of children. He was also found guilty of sexual assault on a child and causing a child under the age of 16 to watch a sexual act.
Following the guilty verdict delivered in court, Whittaker stepped down from his position on the Newport Parish Council last night.
The jury in his original court appearance back in December 2013 failed to reach a verdict back in December, resulting in the re-trail in Feruary 2014, in which he was found guilty and sentenced to 6 years in jail. Whittaker denied the charges against him, causing the victims to have to endure the humility of giving evidense against him in court.
Three years ago previous to this court appearance, Whittaker was actually arrested and found guilty of engaging in sexual activity in a public toilet.
