David woodfinden, a former Councillor appeared at Liverpool Crown Court accused of indecently assaulting a girl back in the 1990's. Woodfinden pleaded guilty on the 22nd November 2011 to four indecent assaults on the same girl, who was aged under 16 during his attacks which occured between 1993-97.

Residents in the Conwy village where he lived reacted with shock at news of the crime. Woodfinden was a LlanfairTH community councillor, a church warden and a community centre treasurer. A council spokesman said Woodfinden resigned his council seat in October which triggered a by-election. The spokesman said at the time "We are shocked at what's happened. He was a hard working councillor, a St Mary's Church warden and a community centre treasurer. He performed his duties very efficiently and was very active in the Church."

Woodfinden had lived in the village for about 12 years at the time of his trial, and the offences are understood to have taken place out of the area.

Outcome:

Woodfinden was sentenced to three years jail on each count – to run concurrently.
